La Casa Sena's wine program is strongly focused on the people who grow grapes and make wine. In that regard, Milagro Vineyards has emerged as one of our most valued partner/suppliers. Their steadfast commitment to handcrafted “vine-to-wine” estate production truly sets them apart from the vast majority of local producers. All of Milagro’s fruit comes from small vineyard blocks located in the towns of Corrales and Rio Rancho, in the heart of the northern Rio Grande valley. They work these parcels with care, selecting sites according to the efficacy of each for the specific variety or varieties under vine. They have also rehabilitated certain key historic old-vine properties in the area such as the “Franklin Vineyard,” from which they produce a powerful but nuanced field blend. Whether at the level of their varietal selections or their vineyard designates, Milagro wines exhibit a specific geographical identity that melds harmoniously with their balanced, varietally correct character. We at La Casa Sena feel honored and fortunate to have found in Rick and Mitzi Hobson, Milagro’s winemaker/owners, two local partners committed as we are to the value of the grower-producer model of winemaking, right in our own backyard.
